Johann-Hermann Meier
Johann-Hermann Meier (10 June 1921 – 15 March 1944) was a German Luftwaffe ace and recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross during World War II. The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership. On 15 March 1944, Johann-Hermann Meier was killed after his Fw 190 collided with another Fw 190 while taxiing at the Luftwaffe base in Florennes, France. He was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross on 16 December 1944. During his career he was credited with 78 aerial victories, all on the Eastern Front.
